Who We Are - Bader Drive Healthcare

Bader Drive Healthcare (BDH) has been providing health services in Counties Manukau for the last 23 years.  Currently we have 2 General Practices in Mangere and Manurewa.

At BDH we have an enrolled patient population of approximately 7,000 patients which does not include the high number of casual patients that it serves. Of this population 80% are of Pacific ethnicity, the majority of who are classed as high needs. The disease and illness profile of our practice population makes our 2 General Practices an ideal place for learning and education.

As an organisation we have accreditation from RNZCGP Cornerstone and Healthcare Aotearoa (HCA) Te Wana Quality programs. We are a RNZCGP Accredited Teaching Practice, have one GPEP1 registrar, and are currently assisting 3 GPEP2 Doctors towards their Fellowship.

At BDH we have 9 General Practitioners, 3 who have Fellowship of the RNZCGP, while the others have Membership. Three of our senior GP’s have a special interest in Youth Health, two in Chronic Disease States and Women’s Health, and others in general Pacific Health. Three also have accreditation to be GP registrar teachers by the RNZCGP, and one of them is a National Trainee Facilitator.

BDH has 8 Registered Nurses who have considerable experience in Primary Care. We have been involved in the training of student nurses, return to the workforce nurses and new graduate nurses for over five years. This has been an informal arrangement with Middlemore Hospital and the Manukau Institute of Technology. We now have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Counties Manukau DHB to undertake placements for new Pacific graduate nurses on an ongoing basis.

We also have an experienced Community Health Educator Workforce which is involved in service delivery in the region of Counties Manukau, and we are a member of TaPasefika Primary Health Organisation. TaPasefika have pledged to support BDH in establishing and implementing this service by way of professional assistance.
